One of the meanings of the word gambit is “a remark to open a conversation,” so I want to use this one to start the year off right (posted by Amy Charlotte Kean):
I’m further inspired by the use of persevere: “to maintain a purpose in spite of difficulty, obstacles, or discouragement: continue steadfastly.” And despite everything going on in the world, that’s what we’ll do. Hang in there everyone!
PS: I’m having fun on a Friday night animating this:
Great quote! And the footage looks GORGEOUS!
Thanks Dan! It is so thrilling when the images I’ve been watching in my head finally make the jump to the screen!
Your project and The Troll Bridge are the first two things I ever supported on Kickstarter. There have been successful projects since then, as well as projects that never quite made it. But not too long ago we finally got to see Troll Bridge. Which was wonderful! But it was also extremely cool seeing the amount of effort, teamwork and passion that was involved in making every stage of it happen.
We have had the same pleasure with The Price. I will be delighted to see the finished project, should I live so long. But it has been a real treat to watch your process and to feel a part of something so wonderful. I hope you continue working on this as long as it brings you joy. And if it stops bringing you joy I hope you are able to walk away and find something else. Thank you for all of it so far!
I have to agree with the sentiment expressed by Stephanie. It has been fun watching this progress. I have enjoyed the occasional updates. I have no regrets about having contributed my small amount to this project; at this point I’ve gotten more than my investment back out.
I appreciate that Mark, and am more determined than ever to make this little film into something you’ll treasure.
Thank you, thank you, thank you Stephanie! I am deeply grateful that this hyper-extended project has brought you some joy, and I hope you can tell I am still loving every minute of the process (even though they’ve been spread-out farther than I could have imagined). Your patience and faith make this whole journey that much richer.
An excellent reminder, and one I should probably have tattooed somewhere on myself in a highly visible place (to me). ;-/
Hahahahaha, that’s true commitment to positive reinforcement — you go girl! As soon as I came across Amy’s inspirational statement, I took a screenshot and knew I needed to share it with you.
Thanks! You hang in there, too!
Will do my friend! (And watch the skies…)
Great tweet and fantastic animation! Keep going x
That’s always been the plan Adele; thanks so much for reaching out!
Nice quote, scary render! Thinking of you and yours in these strange times. 2021, please be less shitty.
Dude, I hear you loud and clear! Thanks for saying hi my friend!
While I hope The Price won’t take 30 years I very much agree with the sentiment.
As for the render, chilling. It’s very nice to see the style of the film is still as eerie as the early trailer that brought me to the Kickstarter, only much better in quality/design.
Thanks Jordi! I am really happy with how things are looking — I just need to speed everything up by 10x!
Just checking in after quite a while … looks like nothing has posted or been commented on for four months … how are things going on the project?
Hey Rose, thanks for looking in on me! (Believe me, I genuinely appreciate it even if it takes me an entire year to respond! Geez…) Still kicking and moving ever onward, so don’t give up yet!
Keep on Truckin’, Christopher! M. Night Shyamalan re-wrote The Sixth Sense 13 times until he was satisfied with the script. Patience always carries the day.
Thank you Tad — that’s a cool factoid I wasn’t aware of! You are the best!!!
Happy Halloween month.
This month I plan to re-read the original story and watch the first trailer that was used on the Kickstarter.
Hope the progress on the film is still going well.
Today, as I was packing my books, I came across my copy of Gaiman’s Smoke and Mirrors and decided to read ‘The Price’ once more before putting it in the box.
Hope the movie is still proceeding.
Such a great book — I’ll always remember reading it that first time (I tore through the entire thing, but couldn’t wait to re-read The Price)! Yes my friend, the film continues its slow but steady march to the finish line! Thank you for always checking-in my friend!
Just checking: are you still persevering? You’re a third of the way through the 30 years.
That is a mighty sobering thought, Richard. Thank you for that (???) … 😉
